Working at SORC

Here is some general information about employment at SORC

The County

Jackson County, Oregon is arguably one of the most beautiful and livable areas of the Pacific Northwest — if not the country. Located in Southern Oregon, Jackson County borders California to the south and is surrounded by the majestic Cascade and Siskiyou Mountain ranges. It is centrally-located along Interstate 5 between Portland and San Francisco, and just hours from the Pacific Ocean coastline. Jackson County offers breathtaking scenery in every direction, a growing economic base, moderate weather and superior quality of life. See Jackson Counties website at www.co.jackson.or.us

SORC Benefits

SORC provides a generous benefits package that is responsive to the needs of employees. The Center provides a medical, dental, and vision care plan that covers all employees and their families. Currently SORC pays $953.85 per month per employee for this plan. During the FY 2007-2008 the employee will contribute 3% towards the medical premium beginning in January 2007. SORC also provides life and long-term disability insurance.
The Center also contributes to a deferred compensation program for retirement. SORC will contribute from 3% to 8% of each employee’s monthly gross income, depending on the employee’s contribution.

Employees receive vacation hours each month based on their length of employment. The accrual range is from 8.0 hours to 16.66 hours a month. Vacation is accrued but cannot be taken until an employee has served 6 months of continuous service. Sick leave is earned at the rate of 8.0 hours a month.

Equal Employment Opportunity

It is the policy of SORC to recruit and select the most qualified person for positions. Recruitment and selection is conducted in an affirmative manner to insure open competition, provide equal employment opportunity and prohibit discrimination based on race, political views, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, age, mental or physical disability, or any other non-merit factors.

Immigration Law Notice

Only U.S. Citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States will be hired. All new employees will be required to complete and sign an Employment Eligibility Verification Form and present documentation verifying identity and employment eligibility.
